Sankalpa Week: Henna Fish Symbols
Each day this week, I’ll be posting about a few symbols I incorporated into henna designs and the sankalpa (intention/purpose) behind them. This is a shot of a quick palm design I did incorporating fish, which in India are known to represent beauty, femininity, fertility, abundance and auspiciousness. Fish also represent protection and divine guidance — A favorite story describes Matsya, a divine fish who guides and protects a great leader through a devastating flood. The dots, bijas, and seeds represent growth and flourishing.
