Mangala Bühler-Rose of Mehndi NYC is a professional mehndi artist born, bred and based in NYC, whose first summers were spent amid the rich scent of henna brewing in her grandmother’s kitchen. She has been drawn to henna ever since.
Her mehndi skills were refined in both the United States and in India, where she studied the careful work of Delhi’s best mehndivalas and fell in love with art forms of India’s bhakti traditions including sanjhi paper cutting, rangoli flour design and Odissi dance.
She harmonizes fruits of her study in both countries with a background in social work, counseling, and education to yield an uplifting experience for students and clients of all ages.
Mangala teaches henna at schools, libraries, and yoga studios around NYC; works corporate and private events (including weddings, openings, parties, festivals and ceremonies); and designs for private clients in various settings.
